Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach has named interim city manager and fire department chief Steve Cox as his chief of staff.

Cox, a Colorado Springs native,  was appointed acting assistant city manager in 2008 after former city manager Penny Culbreth-Graft resigned. He was sworn-in as Colorado Springs fire chief in October 2008.

Bach said during a press conference this morning that four department heads will  report directly to him, communications , economic vitality, city attorney and economic vitality.

All other city departments will report to the chief of staff.
