Dispensaries ask voters to overturn pot shutdown

Longmont owners of local medical marijuana dispensaries are asking voters to overturn a new city law to shut down by July 1.

The Longmont City Council adopted the ban in May. A moratorium kept new dispensaries from setting up within the city limits, but the ban calls for the closure of existing dispensaries by July 1.

According to the Longmont Times Call, supporters have to collect 5,300 signatures by June 27 to get the referendum on the Nov. 1 city ballot.
