Finley heads to city office, temporarily

Chamber executive Stephannie Finley has set up offices in City Hall for the next 30 days.

Finley, who is the president of government affairs for the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce, is helping  Mayor Steve Bach by examining the city’s communications department and giving advice on hiring a new director of the department.

Sue Skiffington-Blumberg, head of the department, was asked to resign within days of Bach’s election.

Finley, who is being called an “executive-on-loan,” says she’s going to be doing a “deep dive” into the city’s communications department – finding out what works and what doesn’t.

“I’m going to see what the department is doing, and find out if there are ways of doing it better,” she said. “I’m going to be looking into the best candidates to head the department in the future.”

Finley has set up offices previously for a freshman congressman. Bach said she has signed a confidentiality agreement while she’s with the city.
