Lamborn: Unaware NREL was target

Filed under: Daily News | Tags:, ,

U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn says he was unaware when he signed onto a letter to cut money for renewable energy that he was also targeting the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden.

Lamborn said he was asking that funds be pulled from the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy grants and it was not intended as an attack on the lab that employs 2,300 workers.

About 90 percent of NREL’s funds come from those grants.

Lamborn tells the Denver Post that the lab needs to tighten its belt and not try to pick winners in the race to develop renewable energy.

  1. How can Mr. Lamborn put his name on a document without first knowing what he’s signing? Sounds like he just walks his party’s line . . . blindly.

  2. You think the Congressman reads beyond the summary of the bills he signs?

  3. Makes you wonder what else he doesn’t really investigate before jumping on the bandwagon.

  4. My perspective is that Rep Lamborn fully understands that our government must cut costs, together with working to pay our national debt, which is critical NOW. The ‘freebies’ are over if we want to keep our country and honor those who sacrificed all in giving us our freedom.
