G.E. Johnson among safest workplaces

Springs-based G.E. Johnson Construction is one of six companies recognized by the Premium Cost Containment Program for its workplace safety record.

G.E. Johnson is nearing 5 million work hours without having a lost a work day due to injury.

The Premium Cost Containment Program is designed to reduce insurance premiums by $270.7 million this year. Nearly 4,000 employers are certified in the program. When companies improve safety, they can reduce premiums by 5 to 10 percent.

Other honorees include: AMI Mechanical, Mark Young Construction, cedar Red Gathering, RK Mechanical and Hydro Construction Company.

G.E. Johnson, owned by Jim Johnson, was founded in 1967 and has $6 billion in completed projects ranging from $10,000 to more than $240 million. G. E. Johnson has received the Associated General Contractors’ National Construction Safety Excellence Award in 2009 and 2010.
