A Colorado solar company wants to join forces with a solar installer in the Northeast to expand its business to both coasts.
Louisville-based Real Goods Solar and Alteris Renewables of Wilton, Conn. announced Wednesday that they’ve entered into a merger agreement.
Real Goods Solar installs solar panels on homes and businesses in Colorado and California. Alteris does business throughout the Northeast.
If approved by shareholders, the deal would close by the end of September. The combined company would be based in Colorado and have more than a dozen offices.
Real Goods new chief executive officer, Bill Yearsley, says the combined company would be in a good position to work on large-scale solar panel installations, such as for retailers with stores in multiple states or home developments.
