Col. Chris Crawford has taken command of the 21st Space Wing. He comes to Peterson Air Force Base from the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. This is his fifth assignment in Colorado Springs. As commander of the 21st Space Wing, he is responsible for the Air Force’s largest wing geographically and organizationally, with about 5,000 officer, enlisted, civilian and contract employees.

Holden Perry has joined Grubb & Ellis Quantum Commercial Group as an associate broker. Originally from Houston, Texas, he recently moved to the Colorado Springs area. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.

Catamount Institute has hired Lindsey Baker as its program coordinator for the Pikes Peak Sustainable Business Network. She recently moved to Colorado Springs from the small town of Cookeville, Tennessee where she received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Management at Tennessee Technological University.

The Colorado Springs Small Business Development Center awarded three community members with awards on June 9th at the Small Business Day luncheon at the Doubletree hotel.

Bill Morris of Blue Star Recyclers was named the 2011 Colorado Springs Small Business Person of the Year. Etienne Hardré of CPA, Next Exit Advisors, was named the 2011 Colorado Springs Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and Michelle Bracewell of Bracewell Web Works, was named the 2011 Colorado Springs SBDC Volunteer of the Year.

Carrie Kalmanowitz has joined Kaiser Permanente as advertising and marketing specialist in Southern Colorado. Her focus will be member marketing communications. She has 15 years experience in marketing communications, most recently with Centura Health.

Col. Thomas L. Gibson has assumed command of the The U.S. Air Force Academy’s 10th Air Base Wing. He comes back to the Academy from Vance Air Force Base, Okla., where he was most recently commander of the 71st Mission Support Group. He is a 1988 Distinguished Military Graduate of the Academy, and was assigned to the Academy in the mid-1990s as an instructor pilot and aide to the Superintendent of the Academy.

Stockman Kast Ryan + Co. has hired Beth Lake as an audit consultant. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs with a bachelor of science in business, with an emphasis in Accounting and a minor in Economics.

Sally Sharpe, RN, Palliative Liaison at Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care has received the Nightingale Luminary Award in Colorado Springs, recognizing leadership, advocacy and innovation in professional nursing.
