State Sen. Rollie Heath says schools need more help than an initiative to raise taxes can offer.
Heath says he hopes an initiative he is proposing would at least shore up some funding for public schools and higher education while deeper changes to education are decided, according to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel.
The initiative would raise Colorado’s income and sales taxes, collecting about $3 billion over five years
Heath must gather more than 86,000 valid signatures to get his initiative on the Nov. 1 ballot.
