Colorado Springs Utilities is looking for a few good businesses to work on the Southern Delivery System.

The municipal utility is hosting its annual business opportunities workshop Thursday, July 14 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Leon Young Service Center, 1521 Hancock Expressway.

The free event will give subcontractors the chance to meet SDS prime contractors to learn about upcoming job opportunities. The City of Colorado Springs Procurement Services and the local Colorado Procurement Technical Assistance Center will also have representatives at the workshop.

CSU has hired five primary contractors for work on the water pipeline: MWH program management support services, HCP Constructors, ASI Constructors, Garney Construction, McCarthy Building Companies and Carollo Engineers.

Construction work on phase one of the project will last until 2016, employing an average of 380 workers each year. Peak employment is expected to be 700 workers in 2014.

For other contract opportunities, go to the Rocky Mountain E-purchasing System.
