Cindy Aubrey, news director at KOAA-TV, will be the first chief communications officer under the new strong mayor form of government, said Mayor Steve Bach.
“Cindy brings an incredible skill set to this position. The communications function is critical to presenting the right image to effectively tell our great story, recruit businesses, and showcase our many tremendous assets,” said Mayor Bach. “She conveys an extraordinary blend of key media relationships, hard news skills and creative brain power to the position. We are very fortunate to find someone of her caliber who is so strongly committed to help our city forward.”
Aubrey manages a staff of 40 at the station. She has been there for 17 years, and was in charge of managing the budget.
Her new salary with the city is $95,000. Aubrey’s anticipated start date is July 20, 2011. Her predecessor, Sue Skiffington-Blumberg made $116,359 as communications chief. Blumberg was asked to resign at the end of May.
