Hub International Limited, insurance brokerage firm, is moving into the Plaza of the Rockies building in downtown Colorado Springs.
The firm expects to open its offices there by Sept. 1, with 15 agents. The company could hire more in upcoming months, said Matt Coleman, Hub Internation president for Colorado.
The company is headquartered in Chicago, and sells property, health and life insurance. It also sells products for reinsurance, employee benefits, investment and wealth management.
Hub will lease about 7,500 square feet in the plaza, considered premier office space.
“We are bullish on Colorado Springs,” Coleman said. “We are very interested in expanding. We will have a significant presence.”
Hub International is 12-years old, and has been on a growth tear – buying up large and small insurance firms across the country. In 2010, Hub bought 22 firms. And, in January, it moved into the Colorado Springs market when it purchased Benefit Resources Inc., the largest Colorado Springs retail employee benefits insurance brokerage firm. Terms of that acquisition were not disclosed.
Hub made its move to Colorado five years ago and now has offices Denver, Grand Junction and Glenwood Springs and Pueblo and about 130 associates, Coleman said.
BRI was located on south Weber Street. The plaza site provides a more visible location, Coleman said.
“We wanted to have a more central, more visible presence,” Coleman said.
