A fitness program for new moms that uses their strollers in place of standard gym equipment is opening up shop in Colorado Springs.

“Stroller Strides is a great way to get back into shape as well as stay in shape,” said Johanna Mitchell, Stroller Strides new franchise owner, in a statement.

Mothers will meet in parks and spend 60 minutes with nationally certified instructors power walking and toning with exercise tubing and their strollers.

While providing instruction to mothers, classes offer  music and sing-alongs for the babies.

Mitchell will host the grand opening for her new Stroller Strides Franchise at Cottonwood Park, just west of Powers Boulevard on Dublin Boulevard, at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17.

She will waive the $75 registration fee and will prorate August membership for those mothers who come to the grand opening celebration.

“We provide the outlet that moms need to enjoy time with other moms, while also focusing on the much needed exercise to fuel their demanding lives,” Mitchell said.
