Udall says oil and gas fracking safe

Filed under: Daily News,Economic Development | Tags:, ,

U.S. Senator Mark Udall says there is no reason to worry about the use of hydraulic fracturing to free up oil and gas deposits if it’s done properly.

Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, involves injecting vast amounts of water and chemicals to open deeply buried gas formations.

People living near drilling areas have complained about water and air quality.

Udall says it’s a safe technology that has resulted in a lot of home-grown energy being produced.

  1. Drilling for oil is safe \IF it’s done properly.
Nuclear Power is safe \IF it’s done properly.
The concern is what happens when it is not done properly…

  2. Yes fracking is safe and well controlled where applied. I am wondering is the city ready for this and how will the city/county benefit? Do we have regulations and inspections defined and ready for this activity within city limits. Even if the B/L Ranch is pruchased, the land still resides in the city. As exploration/production expands it could include the county.
