Dr. Leanne Hadley developed a model of care to help children heal from grief and trauma. She will be recognized for her work at AspenPointe’s 2011 Heroes of Mental Health Luncheon, Oct. 4 at the DoubleTree Hotel. Hadley is the founder and president of First Steps Spiritual Center, which helps kids and teens heal from grief stemming from the loss of a parent, friend or family member (through suicide, deployment, death or divorce) or physical, mental or sexual trauma.

Lt. Gen. Mike Gould, U.S. Air Force Academy superintendent, was named the “2011 Outstanding Alumnus” by Webster University’s George Herbert Walker School of Business and Technology. Gould is in charge of the academy, which provides military, academic, athletic and character development programs to produce nearly 1,000 new officers each year with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is a 1976 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and earned his master’s degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University in 1986.

Peak Vista Community Health Centers is now working with Dr. Amelia Virostko, who will provide care at the Family Health Center at International Circle. Virostko received her bachelor’s degree in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge and her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. She completed her residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver.

University of Phoenix Southern Colorado Campus recently honored three local faculty members for inspiring students to excel inside and outside of the classroom: Mary Carley, Dr. Eric Sandras and Dr. Tom Lovell were recognized with the Director’s Faculty Award, the Outstanding Faculty Award and the John Sperling Scholar Award respectively.

Chuck Kocher was one of three top business coaches inducted into the ActionCOACH Hall of Fame during the company’s Annual Global Conference in Florida. Kocher has 30 years of sales, marketing, leadership, team-building and product and business development experience in the technology and office products industries. He earned his MBA from Penn State University and his bachelor’s from Rowan University.

Dan Enderson has joined Centura Health as senior vice president and chief financial officer. His responsibilities include strategic economic forecasting and financial planning, capital financing and monitoring the overall financial health and obligations of Centura Health and its sponsors, Adventist Health System and Catholic Health Initiatives.

Wendy Pifher, a Holland & Hart attorney based in Colorado Springs, along with 121 other attorneys across the firm, was recognized in the 2012 edition of “Best Lawyers in America.” Pifher was listed as a Best Lawyer in Technology Law.

Dr. Aparna Komatineni has joined the Colorado Springs Neurological Associates. She will provide patient care in general neurology, acute and hyper acute stroke management, cerebrovascular disease, stroke education, care and prevention, behavioral neurology, neuropsychology, epilepsy, headache treatment, multiple sclerosis, neuro degenerative diseases and dementia.
