Pikes Peak United Way is looking for a few good volunteers for its community-wide, “Make a Difference” month.

Scheduled for October, United Way has been inundated with requests for help from local nonprofit groups.

Participants in Make a Difference month are encouraged to care for others during a day in October. Last year, more than 2,800 local residents donated their time and talents, making the event the longest ongoing, community-wide volunteer effort in the history of Colorado Springs.

Individuals interested in volunteer can do so by themselves, with friends, family members of co-workers.

Projects span from indoor painting to outdoor tasks like building trails for the parks department.

Seniors need assistance with yard work, while other volunteers are being sought to accompany 15 developmentally disabled adults on a field trip to the zoo.

To review the full list of projects, or to sign up for this year’s Make a Difference month, go to www.volunteerpikespeak.org or call Aimee Liotino at 955-0762.
