The Garden of the Gods Bank is changing its name to The Eastern Colorado Bank, effective Oct. 3.
In a letter to customers, Megan Harmon, regional president and CEO, said the bank has spent a year preparing for the transition. The name change streamlines customer communication.
“In renaming our bank, we are actually going back to our roots and joining our three other branches in taking on the name of our parent company,” Harmon said.
Harmon’s grandparents opened The Eastern Colorado Bank in Cheyenne Wells, Colo. in 1944. The bank opened its Colorado Springs branch in 2003, but named the bank Garden of the Gods Bank. In 2010, the bank opened a branch in Kansas. That new bank branch encouraged Harmon to think about keeping the name consistent for all four bank branches, especially as the bank has plans to grow.
“As we continue to grow we will expand in smaller markets that can best benefit from our hands-on, personal approach,” Harmon said. “The Eastern Colorado Bank name and reputation will remain consistent as we grow.”
There will be no management changes at the Garden of Gods Bank, 444 E. Pikes Peak Ave.
