A bill that would make it easier to create offseason jobs in resort communities has cleared the U.S. House of Representatives.

The sponsor, Rep. Diana DeGette, says the bill will revise the current ski-only permitting rules for ski areas on U.S. Forest Service land.

DeGette said the bill will create stable, year-round jobs in the 13 states currently home to ski resorts on public land. The bill now goes to the U.S. Senate.
