Colorado is closing two youth detention centers because of a sharp decline in the number of youths being locked up.
.State officials say the number of youths in the detention system has dropped 32 percent, from nearly 1,500 to 1,000, since 2006.
State youth corrections director John Gomez said the state will close the 20-bed Sol Vista Youth Services Center in Pueblo and the 24-bed Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center in Englewood.
