Small business owners across America are joining a campaign at change.org, demanding that Bank of America cancel its new $5 a month debit card fee.

The online petition was created by a 22-year-old worker in Washington, D.C., who closed her account with the banking giant in protest of the fee.

A growing number of small businesses have joined the national campaign, saying Bank of America’s debit fees and checking account fees were too expensive. BofA also changes some businesses extra to have business accounts.

More than 200,000 people have signed the petition so far. Bank of America officials say it’s too early to cancel the fee.

CEO Bryan Moynihan suggested Tuesday that the new $5 fee will attract businesses by encouraging customers to use more services and avoid the charge.
