A local Colorado Springs entrepreneur is launching a marketing website for local businesses.

Called wherestheegg.com, the site will allow visitors to seek up to $50,000 in cash and prizes hidden throughout the content of the site in the form of digital eggs. In exchange, they’ll see the ads throughout the site.

The goal, says creator Aaron Winter, is to make the site “desirable, addictive, entertaining and fun.”

“There is little doubt that people will spend hours searching through the content of our website, subsequently viewing sponsor advertisements while they do it.”

Wherestheegg.com is a subscription-based site that will include more than 4,000 pages of content – six pages per advertiser, including photo galleries and business pages.” The eggs contain prizes from local and corporate advertisers hidden electronically throughout the site, and will vary in size depending on the value of the prize.

Members pay $24 a year for access and can find the eggs by scrolling their cursor over each page. Advertisers will supply prizes: gift certificates, DVDs, Blu-Ray players, video game systems, portable media players, furniture, household items, computers and motorcycles.

Winter plans to launch a quarterly magazine to drive traffic to the site.

Advertisers already signed on include: Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, Other Worlds Educational Enterprises and The Airplane Restaurant.
