The Colorado Springs Police Department named Barbara Miller senior public communications specialist. The position was reclassified from a sworn officer to a civilian. Miller has bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the State University of New York College at Buffalo. She is retired from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Orlando, Fla. with 28 years of law enforcement experience. During her tenure, she served in various positions to include three years as a public information officer.

Christi Mayfield has been appointed as the new membership specialist at the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mayfield was previously with Peak Vista Community Health Systems as their communications associate. She has extensive hospitality and event experience with The Cliff House at Pikes Peak and the Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce and assisted with the annual Emma Crawford Coffin Race, Fruitcake Toss and organized the Manitou Holiday Parade. At the CVB, Mayfield will provide support for membership servicing, sales and event planning.

Jeanette Basham, Farmers Insurance agent, has completed the Career Agents Course at the University of Farmers training facility in Agoura Hills, Calif. The university offers training to Farmers’ 15,000 agents and their staff, 500 district managers and 10,000 claims staff year round. The course gives an agent the ability to learn how to successfully understand the needs of Farmers’ customers and help them choose the right insurance to meet their needs.

Todd S. Adams, CEO, of Adams Bank & Trust named Amanda Fanning as Deposit Compliance Officer. Fanning is the fifth generation of her family to work in the management of the bank. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master of professional accountancy.

Stockman Kast Ryan + Co., a certified public accounting firm, announced the promotions of the following employees: Buddy Newton has been promoted to senior tax consultant. Newton graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and has been with SKR + Co. for three years. He is a member of the Chamber Rising Professionals and a reserve deputy for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Kimberly Paetsch has been promoted to senior bookkeeper. She has been with the firm for more than five years. In addition to standard bookkeeping responsibilities, she will consult and review client accounts in her new role.
