The U.S. Army and El Paso County commissioners are giving enthusiastic support to a public outdoor shooting range at Fort Carson.

Fort Carson Garrison Commander Col. Robert McLaughlin told county commissioners on Tuesday the gun range will improve community relations. The county has been searching for a solution for public shooting for more than two years.

The public would be able to use the ranges and not have to register their guns.
