Hundreds of frozen turkeys are needed to complete food boxes to El Paso County families in need, including a few hundred military families at Fort Carson.
Bob Hughes, chief programs officer at Springs Rescue Mission, said that turkey donations were coming in – but at a much slower rate.
“We’re on deck to provide about a thousand turkeys total to families and churches by Thanksgiving, and we’re about 800 short,” he said.
Donations can be dropped off at the Springs Rescue Mission Warehouse at 1 W. Las Vegas St. in Coloraod Springs form 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Turkeys will be accepted through Nov. 17, he said.
The Springs Rescue Mission provides food, clothing, household supplies and services to people in El Paso County.
