We've been using Square for about six months and it works great especially in location like fairs, bazaars and outdoor markets where there's no electricity available. The flat rate makes understanding your margins much easier.

The Colorado Springs Philharmonic has been using Square to great success with iPads and iPhones since February. We use it for all our lobby sales at concerts, amongst other things. It's great not having to be hardwired to a phone line or ethernet, the fees are very reasonable, and we were able to make use of it on equipment we already had.

The greatest benefit for us was speed. Before, we'd have to wait on a slow merchant card reader or process cards with a laptop using a payment gateway website. Lots of manual entry. Now Square does all that for us, and most people opt out of a receipt or have it texted, both of which are very speedy.

A win all around.

I use Square for my photography business and I love it. I, too, was so frustrated with the cryptic bills from the merchant account provider and the random fees they would charge. I pull out my iPad to run the transaction and everyone thinks it's cool. With Square, you know exactly where you stand and there are no surprises on your monthly statement. You get an email with each transaction that tells you exactly what you did and how much your fee is. It really is excellent.
