Southern Colorado Business Resource Conference

The Southern Colorado Small Business Development Center will host its second Southern Colorado Business Resource Conference from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pueblo Convention Center. The event is free and will feature a Resource Exhibit Hall with a variety of community business resources and service providers and a series of workshops on some of the most popular business topics. Chamber University

The Small Business Advisory Council will host “Effective Strategies for Business Success” from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Colorado Technical University, 4435 N. Chestnut St. The networking panel includes: Anne Wamser, The Eastern Colorado Bank; Ted Robertson, RCN Group; Justin Burns, TW Telecom; and Jill Webb, Central Bancorp. Business After Hours

Tri-Lakes Chamber will host its final Business After Hours for 2011 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., a holiday celebration, at Peoples National Bank on Woodmoor Drive in Monument. State of the Region

El Paso County Commissioner and Chair of the Board Amy Lathen will share insights into building the best region at the State of the Region luncheon 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Antlers Hilton. BBB Benefits 101

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado’s monthly Benefits 101 class will be from 8 to 9 a.m. at 25 N. Wahsatch Ave. The seminar describes the benefits businesses receive as a BBB Accredited Business. The seminar is free with light refreshments served. Business tax class

The Colorado Department of Revenue offers a three-hour business tax class 1 to 4 p.m. on the laws of state sales and use taxes. This class is for new businesses in Colorado, taxpayers considering opening a business in Colorado, tax preparers consulting with Colorado clients on this topic or those who need a refresher course. Topics covered will include state sales tax license requirements, sales tax rate application, nexus, tax-exempt sales transactions, use tax liabilities and available electronic services.
