Lon Rathmell has joined Pikes Peak National Bank as a commercial loan officer and will work with local small businesses. Rathmell holds an MBA in finance from UCCS and will be located at the N. Academy Branch of Pikes Peak National Bank. He previously held commercial loan officer positions at Washington Mutual, Vista Bank and Wells Fargo.
Colorado Springs native Mike Marquez has been named general manager of the Brunswick Zone XL, which is under construction in Interquest Marketplace and slated to open in spring 2012. Marquez joined Brunswick as a customer service representative and rose rapidly through management, serving as GM at five other Brunswick locations before returning to Colorado Springs.
The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Foundation named Johnny Walker as general manager at the Norris-Penrose Event Center. Walker will be in charge of the day-to-day operation of the facility while focusing on marketing to new events, creating community partnerships, managing existing events like the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo and overseeing the boarding barn. Walker is a fourth-generation rancher from Pueblo, holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from CSU Pueblo and most recently was the owner of Tall Pine Properties, LLC in Colorado Springs.

Michelle Apricio is the new director of sales and marketing for the Embassy Suites Colorado Springs. She will oversee all sales, marketing, catering and revenue management for the 206-room property with 7,500 square feet of meeting space.
Accessible Coordinated Transportation of the Pikes Peak Region, a local nonprofit that will coordinate specialized transportation services in the area, has named Lynn Hopeman its first as executive director/mobility manager. Hopeman has been a nonprofit CEO in the community for more than 30 years and has administrative experience with disabled, seniors and youth. She was a key contributor of the community effort to form ACT, and served as the Board President of ACT for the last year.
The Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau have elected its 2012 Board of Directors and Slate of Officers. New additions to the board include Todd Felson, general manager of Cheyenne Mountain Resort, Dennis Lesko, vice president of marketing of The Broadmoor Hotel, Tim Wolfe, general manager of the Antlers Hilton Hotel and Nathan Newbrough, president and CEO of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. In 2012 the board will guide the CVB through its strategic plan initiatives, including maximizing awareness of the organization in the community and growing support for local tourism.
