Jobless claims in U.S. drop to three-year lows

The number of people filing for first-time unemployment claims has dropped to a three-year low, reports Bloomberg.

Unemployment claims dropped by 19,000 to 336,000, according to information from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

A slowdown in layoffs could be behind the lower numbers, something that could spur consumer spending in December.
