S&P downgrade ignored by investors

Four months after Standard & Poor’s downgraded the United States’ debt rating, investors are flocking to dollar-backed securities.

Government bonds have returned 4.4 percent, and the dollar has gained 8.8 percent relative to other currencies. The S&P 500 has gained 1.7 percent since the downgrade cut the US from AAA+ to AA.
