Colorado Parks and Wildlife says it has $1.7 million in matching grants available to support projects that would benefit fishing, shooting ranges or motorized boating.

Parks and wildlife officials are accepting applications from individuals, organizations and local governments for some of that money.

The Fishing is Fun grant program has $900,000 available to distribute for projects benefiting anglers. The Shooting Range Development grant program has up to $500,000 available to help develop or improve shooting ranges.

The Motorboat Colorado! grant program has up to $300,000 to give away that could support new boat ramps, docks, access roads or cleaning facilities to prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species like zebra mussels.

The grant programs are partially funded by federal excise taxes on the sale of boating, hunting and fishing equipment.
