U.S. companies added 325,000 jobs

The U.S. job market added 325,000 jobs in December, more than expected, a sign of a strengthening economy going into 2012, according to reports by a private payroll company.

ADP said the number was the highest monthly increase going back to 2001, and that the numbers exceeded expectations.
