Southern Colorado Indoor BMX has partnered with Pikes Peak BMX create a multi-weekend racing event at the Norris-Penrose Events Center.

Races start this weekend, Jan. 20, and run through April. They’re expected to attract up to 400 racers from as far away as Kansas and New Mexico.

The BMX races are the first of a more diverse array of events planned this year at the Norris-Penrose Events Center, known traditionally for hosting the annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo but few other high-profile events.

The shift to add and diversify events is being lead by new Norris-Penrose  General Manager Johnny Walker, who was hired last month.

Read more about Walker’s plans to attract events and renovate the facility in this Friday’s Business Journal.
