BBB target of phishing scam

The Better Business Bureau has once again become the target of phishing scam.

The bureau reports that a fake email, claiming to be from a bbb.org address about a recently filed complaint is a scam. Although there are different variations circulating, all of the malicious emails contain links designed to infect computers with malware, a Trojan Horse known as Zeuss of Zbot.

The Council of Better Business Bureaus has been working with a phishing deactivation service to shut down all websites that host malware, yet scammers continue to put up new sites. Deactivating these websites protects recipients from the virus. It will not prevent emails from going out in the first place.

The scam has been reported to the FBI.

The BBB recommends that recipients do not click on the links or reply to the message. The group asks that recipients forward the message to phishing@council.bbb.org and delete the message from your inbox.
