The Credit Union of Colorado will open its $1.4 million full-service credit union on Austin Bluffs Parkway Feb. 6.
The new credit union will feature three teller stations and three drive-thru lanes, a model tried in other Colorado cities and received well by its members, said Doug Schneider, the credit union’s marketing vice president.
The new branch office, at 3606 Austin Bluffs Parkway in the Marketplace at Austin Bluffs shopping center, will replace its current credit union office, which was just across the street but is much smaller, Schneider said.
The old office, which opened in 1998, only offered ATM service and a four-person staff. The new office is 3,700-square-feet, more than double the current 1,400 square-foot office, which the credit union plans to lease. The new office will have seven employees.
“We’ve been doing lots of planning and we are ready to move,” Schneider said.
Credit Union of Colorado, which has assets of $950 million, has about 90,000 members and specializes in serving local and state government employees, as well as students and alumni of the state’s community colleges. The new office will allow the credit union to expand its local staff to six or seven, Schneider said. The new branch office also will offer safe deposit boxes, something new for Colorado Springs customers, Schneider said.
The last day in the existing office will be Feb. 3 and the office will be closed on Saturday for moving day, Schneider said.
“We are offering a lot more convenience with three-lane drive through,” he said. “In Fort Collins, we moved from convenience center to full-scale office and members love it.”
