Search committee hopes to name SBDC director by March

A  search committee is reviewing applicants now for the director’s position at the Small Business Development Center at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

The committee hopes to start interviewing candidates in February and name a new director by March, said Venkat Reddy, dean of the UCCS  College of Business.

Marcella Hurley, who took over as chief of the Small Business Development Center in June 2011, left after six months. Hurley was named to the post after a national search.

Reddy never offered details about Hurley’s departure.

The Small Business Development Center is a partnership between the Small Business Administration and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The non-profit organization offers educational services for small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Reddy said the Small Business Development Center continues operating as usual.

“I would encourage current and potential clients to continue to use SBDC services even as the search for a new director is in process,” Reddy said.
