Regulators target debt collectors and credit reporting firms

The government’s newest regulator is getting ready to crack down on credit reporting firms and debt collection agencies, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is proposing new regulations to govern two arcane industries that affect the lives of every consumer in the United States.

The new agency will send examiners to review operations in order to find problems before they grow larger.
