Law named interim public health director

Jill Law has been named the interim executive director of the El Paso County Public Health department.

Law replaces Kandi Buckland, who is retiring March 9 after 11 years with the agency and a total of 27 years in the public health field.

“Ms. Buckland has done an outstanding job of leading this agency through some of the most challenging times of inevitable budget reductions and disease outbreaks such as the H1N1 Pandemic, while continuing to move strategically forward with preparation efforts to apply for national accreditation. She will be greatly missed,” said CJ Moore, president of the Board of Directors.

Law is the current division director of health services and is a registered nurse who has a total of 17 years with El Paso County Public Health. She will serve as interim director while a search is being conducted for a full-time director.

Board of Health members will serve as the search committee to select potential candidates and determine a permanent replacement. The board will meet March 12 at 3:30 p.m. at Centennial Hall’s Pikes Peak conference room to determine the recruitment process.
