Oil imports fall, domestic production increases

A report by six federal agencies said that the United States cut crude oil by 10 percent, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The U.S. now imports 45 percent of its oil, down from 57 percent in 2008.

A year ago, President Barack Obama pledged to reduce oil imports by a third in a decade.
