Cigna has expanded its collaborative accountable care program to 10 new initiatives – one of which includes Colorado Springs Health Partners.
The initiatives also involve doctor groups in six other states: Maine, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
With the additions, Cigna has 22 collaborative accountable care programs in 13 states that cover more than 270,000 customers. Its Colorado initiatives include 3,500 customers, 116 doctors and eight practice locations.
These programs focus on expanding patient access to care, improving care coordination and achieving improved health outcomes, affordability and patient satisfaction. The effort is part of Cigna’s approach to accomplishing some of the requirements in the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as ObamaCare.
