State Democrats wanted to add $5.7 million to the budget for economic development initiatives, but that move failed – but there could be another way, reports the Denver Business Journal.
The House spent hours debating the budget yesterday, discussing 45 different amendments to the $19 billion budget. The six budget amendments failed because House Republicans didn’t want to take money away from education. They plan to introduce a measure that will take $5.7 million from the general fund surplus for education and then move that money into the economic development office.
