Downtown board delays Gasoline Alley issue

The Downtown Review Board voted unanimously today to postpone the hearing on an application for a conditional use permit to expand downtown bar Gasoline Alley.

The proposal to expand has become controversial because downtown business owners and residents say there are already too many downtown bars, bringing noise and crowds.

Vince Lindon, an attorney representing Gasoline Alley LLC, . owned by Sam and Kathy Guadagnoli, made the request for postponement.

He said he began receiving calls from downtown stakeholders between Thursday and Friday asking to speak with the Guadagnolis about concerns, and there wasn’t time to meet with everyone before today’s hearing. He told stakeholders he would request to postpone the hearing.

Board member Rich Guy motioned to postpone the hearing to June 6 in order to give the applicant time to “smooth ruffled feathers.”
