Behave like a Middle Market Company

Prepare to defend against cyber threats
SCORE, SBA and South Metro Denver Chamber SBDC will co-sponsor a seminar addressing computer security from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce Office, 2154 E. Commons Ave., Suite 342 Centennial. Small and mid-sized businesses that network with social media are rapidly becoming the main target of hackers and cyber thieves. Businesses that network into social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and other) or simply have a web presence or swipe customer credit cards are extremely vulnerable to identity theft, data loss and other cyber disasters. Start-Up Basics Workshop
SCORE hosts a free workshop 6 to 9 p.m. at the Colorado Springs Technology Incubator, 3595 E. Fountain Blvd. to help entrepreneurs assess and document their business plans. This is the first in a series of six sessions. SCORE is a national volunteer association, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, providing free and confidential counseling and seminars to small businesses. PPRTA Open House
The City hosts a Pikes Peak Regional Transportation Authority Open House from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 7, at the City Administration Building in Suite 102. Information on the list of projects being considered, if the capital portion of the sales tax is extended with voter approval, will be available for review and comment.

The Colorado Department of Revenue offers a three-hour business tax class from 1 to 4 p.m. regarding the laws surrounding state sales and use taxes applicable to businesses conducting sales in Colorado. This class is for new businesses in Colorado, taxpayers considering opening a business in Colorado, tax preparers consulting with Colorado clients on this topic, and/or those who need a refresher course on Colorado sales/use tax laws.
