The Acacia Park summer concert series kicks off Saturday with indie rock band The Water Bear with Kellie Palmblad and folk band The Mitguards.
The Modbo gallery and the Colorado Springs Downtown Business Improvement District partnered to bring live music to Acacia Park most Saturday evenings in June and August from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This is the second year for the series, said Denise Schall, the program coordinator for the Downtown Partnership.
“It’s a chance for people to come downtown and relax, and maybe go to dinner,” Schall said.
All of the bands perform original music, she said.
The concerts will pause through July when afternoon thunderstorms traditionally threaten outside events like the Acacia concerts.
