Volunteers are needed for pre-race and race day activities. They will take on a variety of roles from hospitality, security, media check-in, volunteer check-in and course marshals. Volunteers must be 18 or older.
“Experiencing Colorado Springs Stage 5 finish will be a once in a lifetime experience,” said Alicia McConnell, volunteer director, USA Pro Challenge, Stage 5. “With world class racers sprinting through the Pikes Peak region, volunteers will see the race like no other spectator – being footsteps away from the action.”
The USA Pro Cycling Challenge, in its second year, is described as second only to the Tour de France. It is a seven-day race through the state and attracts the world’s top cycling athletes. This year, the race is Aug. 20 to Aug. 26.
Last year, the local portion of the race attracted thousands of fans who lined the road from Garden of the Gods Park to downtown Colorado Springs and officials estimate the local event had a $2 million economic impact.
