Peak View Behavioral Health opens new psychiatric hospital

Peak View Behavioral Health expects to hire more than 100 new employees this year and 100 in 2013 to staff its new 92-bed, acute psychiatric hospital.

The hospital will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 27 for community members who wish to tour the facility.

Peak Views’ team of psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and nurses will begin treating patients at their new site soon after the open house. The new hospital, 7353 Sisters Grove, is located at the southeast corner of Woodmen Road and Powers Boulevard, directly east of St. Francis Medical Center.

“We wanted to give the community professionals an opportunity to walk through the hospital, see how therapeutic and non-institutional the environment is, and ask our team any questions they might have about the facility specifically, or behavioral healthcare in general,” said Gary Miller, Peak View Behavioral Health CEO.

The new 56,000-square-foot hospital will offer several program options to serve the behavioral health needs of individuals throughout and beyond the Front Range.

Initial start-up will include services for adults 18 years of age and older, including geriatric patients. Future plans include the treatment of children and adolescents.

“This is a huge undertaking and we want to make sure we grow at an appropriate pace for both the patients and our staff,” said Will Adams, Peak View chief operations officer.

Peak View, a subsidiary hospital of Strategic Behavioral Health, has operated a 24-bed acute psychiatric hospital focused on the inpatient and outpatient needs of older adults for almost four years in Colorado Springs. This hospital, located on north Academy Boulevard, will close once the new facility opens.
