Pikes Peak Community Action Agency is moving its Eastern El Paso Community Center, located in Calhan, to the new community outreach center on the El Paso County Fairgrounds, 328 10th Street in Calhan.
The new center opens Aug. 1.
“We’ve had a presence in the area for close to 20 years,” said Guinn Rogers, CEO. “We are committed to the eastern El Paso community and will continue to help to those in need.”
PPCAA will continue to provide all services with the exceptions of the USDA Commodities program, Commodity Supplemental Food Program and food pantry. Instead, the organization has partnered with Care and Share to distribute USDA commodities to eastern El Paso County residents. Care and Share will distribute and manage the commodities program and PPCAA will manage the upfront process of accepting applications and issuing qualification cards.
“We are proud to continue our partnership with Care and Share,” Guinn said. “This new arrangement should create a more efficient distribution system, better serving those in need.”
The new Eastern El Paso Community Center will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
