Fireworks and baseball, back together for Sky Sox

Baseball has its sparkle back.

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox has the OK to resume its 2012 Friday fireworks series.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department and fire marshall announced that the city-wide burn ban has been lifted.

The sky over Security Service Field will light up again on July 20 and continue on Friday nights for the remainder of the season. The Friday fireworks series will end with the Sky Sox biggest show Sept. 1.

This year, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox baseball club celebrates its 25th anniversary.  The team is having its biggest promotions and more give-aways, like bobble heads and baseball card collections. The team is hoping to top last season’s attendance of 339,000 fans.

The club has worked to market itself as affordable, family friendly entertainment. It offers kids-eat-free Mondays, $2 Tuesdays, micro brew Thursdays and more.
