European central bank pledge eases worries of economy

A pledge by the top banker at the European Central Bank has some breathing a sigh of relief, says the Los Angeles Times.

Mario Draghi, president of the bank, said the bank is prepared to do “whatever it takes” to preserve the euro.

Stock markets in the United States were also buoyed by the news that jobless claims were lower than expected and by reports of new orders for durable goods.
