Cascade Ave. This class covers print sources, electronic databases and websites to help find information on industry, competition, vendors, financials, and more. Leading Edge course open house

The Small Business Development Center hosts “Leading Edge for Creative Industry Program Overview” from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the SBDC building on UCCS, 1420 Austin Bluffs Parkway. The Leading Edge course, also referred to as the “Entrepreneur Course,” is a 12-session course designed for entrepreneurs who want to start a new business or expand an existing business and need the skills to make it grow. Cost is $395. Call 255-3844 to register and prepay.

Start-Up Basics Workshop

SCORE hosts a free workshop to help entrepreneurs assess and document their business plans from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Colorado Springs Technology Incubator, 3595 E. Fountain Blvd. room J2. Safety seminar

The Greater Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC, the Better Business Bureau, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence and Pinnacol Assurance are sponsoring a free quarterly safety seminar that zeros in on how to identify high-risk job tasks; ergonomic design lifting techniques; and strategies for safe-lifting program. State of the City

The State of the City luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Antlers Hilton Hotel. Mayor Steve Bach will discuss his first year in office as the city’s first strong mayor. He expects to speak about jobs, transforming city government and building community. Cost is $30 for chamber and EDC members and $40 for non members.
