Garden of the Gods Club named Erik Pedersen food and beverage director. Pedersen has more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently, he served as assistant general manager at Hiwan Golf Club in Evergreen, Colo., where he was responsible for all aspects of club operations. Pedersen has a bachelor’s degree in business and computer information systems from Colorado State University.

RTA Architects hired Jennifer Toll to its health care design team. She has 19 years experience in architecture. Toll is the 2011/2012 director of AIA Colorado South Board of Directors. Her previous work includes projects for the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center and the National Renewable Energy Labs. Garik Rowe, a 2011 Texas Tech master of architecture graduate, and Jonathan Bock, LEED AP BD+C, a 2011 University of Colorado, Denver Master of Architecture graduate, joined RTA as architectural interns. Megan Norris, a 2013 University of Kansas professional master’s of architecture candidate, is working at RTA through December 2012 as part of her degree program.

El Paso County Commissioner Sallie Clark has been appointed to serve on the board of directors of the National Association of Counties. Clark serves on several key policy setting committees and task forces within NACo including the Justice and Public Safety Committee, the Large Urban Counties Caucus, the Veterans and Military Services Task Force, Cyber Security Task Force and the Arts and Culture Commission. Clark also was elected to serve as vice chair of the Women of NACo.

Leanne Carpenter and John Christian have joined Stockman Kast Ryan + Co. Carpenter graduated with a bachelor’s in accounting from Alma College in Alma, Mich. She spent nine years with Ford Motor Company in finance and accounting and six years as a staff accountant with Charles Smith, CPA. She became a CPA in 2005. Christian is a staff accountant. He graduated with a bachelor’s in business administration from Pensacola Christian College, in Pensacola, Fla. He previously worked as a staff accountant at Hoelting & Company, Inc.

The Shafer Group, a CPA and business advisory company, has promoted three employees. William (Bix) V. Moding, CPA, is chief operating officer. He has more than 30 years experience in both public accounting and private industry. His responsibilities include overseeing the tax, audit and accounting products and services and assisting the owners with business development and practice administration. He has been with the company for three years. Yoonmi Kim, CPA, has been promoted to tax manager. Her responsibilities include managing tax engagements, business development and staff supervision. Kim has been with the company for five years. Vidhya Krishnamoorthy, CPA, has been promoted to tax supervisor. Her new responsibilities include supervising and mentoring tax preparers to ensure tax documents are prepared and filed properly. Krishnamoorthy has been with the company for four years.

Dr. Amber Williams has joined the Northwest Animal Hospital and Pet Care Center. She has a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Texas Tech University, a master’s degree in business administration and a doctor of veterinary medicine from Texas A&M University. Williams enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine, especially cardiology, internal medicine, dentistry and surgery.
