Firehouse Subs is opening its first restaurant in Colorado Springs Monday at 7543 N. Academy Boulevard.
The company features sub sandwiches in a firehouse setting based on the founders’ 200 years of firefighting heritage.
The new location is decorated with local firefighter memorabilia donated by the Colorado Springs and Castle Rock fire departments.
Every Firehouse Subs restaurant includes a custom, hand-painted mural. This location’s mural illustrates a C-130 aircraft dropping fire retardant on a forest fire with Pikes Peak as the backdrop.
Firehouse was founded in Jacksonville, Fla., by brothers Chris and Robin Sorenson, both former firefighters. It has grown into a national chain with 524 restaurants.
